The virtual life – social networks

I came across an astonishing fact (cited by Refer*)  – Almost half the population of the United Kingdom (24 million adults) use one or more social networking sites**. Note the adult – the actual number must be significantly higher when the vast number of young people who belong to social networks such as Bebo, Facebook and MySpace and various virtual communities are added.

A real warning to all of us that our Internet presence is of major importance and even more importantly – we must all keep up with developments of social networks even though they are expanding at a (well, to me at least) staggering pace.
